A group of single 20-something guys said they thought this was my best sermon yet at Cherry Hills Community Church. I'd beg to differ, but I was especially surprised since they weren't married or parents. But the secondary focus (flowing from 2 Corinthians 7:1) is on the necessity for spiritual transformation, something modern evangelicals tend to downplay, and some traditions tend to be even suspicious of. I try to make the case that Paul, Peter, James, and the writer of Hebrews all agree on the need for an intentional, persistent, and earnest effort to grow in godliness. Parenting is one of God's paths to motivate us and to shape us in that regard.
