So much wisdom in so little space! Good words for the world to hear... Thank you!

I'm reminded of the words of the old hymn, "O Jesus, I have promised:"

O let me feel Thee near me,

the world is ever near;

I see the sights that dazzle,

the tempting sounds I hear;

my foes are ever near me,

around me and within;

but, Jesus, draw Thou nearer,

and shield my soul from sin.

Written in 1869... and just as meaningful a prayer for today.

Keep up the good work!

May the Holy Spirit continue to fill you, bless you, and use you!

There is so much packed in here, I will be re-listening several times to digest, internalize, make plans for renewing my (sadly atrophied) self control.

One thing I am unsure of, and perhaps you have any resources share, Gary (or maybe even Lisa?), is walking the line between self-control and "listening to your body" when you have health issues.

I know I need to do better. I know I fall, most often, into the laziness/path of least resistance trap. Some of it genuinely is because of the difficulty I have with mind and body (I have multiple sclerosis and also numerous headaches). There are many things that I and my family would benefit from if I did them, but I often don't have the physical or mental energy.

If you have anything to share on that angle/aspect of self-control, that would be wonderful!

Kristina, I tell the story of a couple, Darell and Stacy, in Making Your Marriage a Fortress. Darell has lived with MS for decades. He and Stacy are so mature in their faith, and so inspiring. Rather than try to offer a few pat answers to your question that deseves a much more in-depth response, would you be open to talking with Darell and Stacy directly? I'm fairly confident they'd be willing to do that. If so, email me at gary@garythomas.com, and I'll connect you.
