Very encouraging post today. I also think of this verse as I continue to serve my husband without reward here on earth…Galatians 6:9 NIV. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
I found out the same thing when I took care of my husband during the last years of his life. I found out that it was how I treated him rather than how he treated me that gave me the satisfaction that I had always been searching for. I think about all that a lot. I just wish I had known that years ago .
I have found this to be true in my own marriage. Praise God for this wisdom - we are freed from our own selfish desires when we serve. (It is certainly not instantaneous)
